World of Warcraft Classic Announcement
Several times in my life I have come very close to complete self destruction through unhealthy game addiction. The worst two times were from the same game, World of Warcraft, circa 2005 and 2007. I haven’t played that game in 10 years but Blizzard (the developer) has just announced a new type of experience that will roll back the game to the way it was in 2005. This bodes very, very poorly for my life in the near future. My only hope is not to play but just to scratch the itch on Twitch for a while. The alternative at this stage of my life is basically the apocalypse. – Brian
The upcoming Flash movie will be called Flashpoint — and that’s a bad idea
Going to assume that you care just a little bit about DC. Maybe you at least like Batman. Everybody likes Batman, don't they? Are there any Batman haters out there? Show yourselves.
If you haven't at least watched the Flashpoint Paradox animated movie on Netflix, you should do that. Basically, some writers got together and decided to use Barry Allen to re-write the entire DC universe. If you don't know, Flash can run really fast. Sometimes he runs so fast he can go back in time using the Speed Force. Sometimes Barry gets a little sad and wants to go back in time and undo something tragic that happened. Sometimes that means that Barry gets a little sloppy and accidentally creates an alternate timeline where Bruce Wayne is the one that gets killed and Thomas Wayne becomes an alcoholic murder-y Batman and Martha Wayne is so overcome with grief that she becomes The Joker. I KNOW RIGHT?!?
So yeah there's no way they can work all that into a live-action movie.
And God Created Millennial Earth
Yeah this is teetering on the edge of sacrilege (it's probably over the edge) but it's really really funny so I had to share. I'm proud and embarrassed that I knew 90% of the acronyms and/or made-up words.
I find out about most of the cool new products that I tell all of you about using Product Hunt. And if you want to find out about cool new products too, you should join this site and go upvote things. They have a fun newsletter and Chrome extension as well. And if you sign up using my link, then they'll probably send me a t-shirt with a cat on it.
But anyway, this particular product was designed by a 14-year old Irish kid. It's Tinder but for news articles. I love that the community jumped in and made this kid's day by downloading the app and providing UI/UX feedback. Check it out.
Darth Vader’s Castle In ‘Rogue One’: Your Questions Answered
I know you had questions. Didn't you? Good. Here are your answers, then. You're welcome.
This genius photo experiment shows we are all just sheeple in the consumer matrix
Unfortunately this post doesn't explain to me why men are wearing little leather purse necklaces. Someone clue me in.
Empty States? More like You-Have-No-Idea-How-Much-Work-Goes-Into-Those States, amirite??
As I may have mentioned before, sometimes folks tell me that I use a word or phrase in conversation that they aren't familiar with because it's an 'industry term' and I forget where I am sometimes. So in the pursuit of sharing more about what I do and the things I think about, here's a frenzied explanation of the massive amount of work Shopify put into creating their empty states. And before you jump in, here's the definition:
Empty states (or zero states) are places in apps that have no content or data (yet). You probably only see them in three situations:
Also, the illustrations in that article are pretty so just go look at them.
Quora - What's the Most Reliable Car Brand
A really well-researched answer to this question. I'm constantly car shopping, not because I need one, but because I drive an 18-year-old Honda Accord that I assume will at some point explode without warning. In which case I'd like to have some idea what I'm buying next. Some interesting notes about this answer: Porsche has good reliability scores (I assumed all luxury imports just sat in shops all day); Fiat and MINI are consistently at the bottom of lists; I'm somehow interested in Buick's offerings these days despite not being >55 years old.
This app has the perfect name. Improve the readability of your articles with some help from a good ol' robot. Note: this in no way is as good as having an actual editor look at your stuff, but if you're just casually blogging on Medium or something it seems like a helpful tool.
Greats - The Royale - Summer Vintage Nero Mesh
I have three pairs of Greats now, and one is the original Royale Cuoio. Basically every shoe Greats sells is super dope, as in random compliments from strangers on my shoes kind of dope. This is their latest release, and I'm tempted to grab a pair despite knowing I would wear these way too much and ruin them in a month.
