Intro / Preface / Extra Words
I hope everyone is reading this on a lazy Saturday morning or Sunday afternoon. I think newsletters are the new weekend paper, so I like to pretend everyone that subscribes to this one is operating under the same assumption.
I think you could summarize the theme of this newsletter as being loosely historical: we've got the history of the whole world according to someone that may not sleep much and pictures of actual dinosaurs. Hard to top that.
If I haven't mentioned it before, please feel free to send me links you want to be featured in this newsletter by replying to this email or by texting me. Several of you have been doing this, and I've got your links queued up and ready for future issues. Thanks for playing along!
Enjoy.

One Teenager’s (Supremely Brilliant) Perspective on Social Media
Let's get one thing straight: this opinion piece is not "supremely brilliant". I have yet to share anything with you, dear readers, that I would deem "supremely brilliant". I'm reserving that level of hyperbole for some article that is truly face-melting, and this is not that.
OK, now that we're clear, this is a decent proof of the quote that "comparison is the thief of joy". It's also a good reminder that the whole Internet thing is still brand new, and we need to continue researching the psychological effects that social media channels have on us – especially at impressionable ages.
Timeless Things
History of the whole world according to Bill Wurtz
This video is ridiculous and wonderful. It's 20 minutes, so it's a bit of a time investment but it's hilarious and I've watched it twice this week. I know sometimes I get really wrapped up in current events and it's tempting to think that whatever is happening is unique and possibly the end of the world. Summarizing all of history in 20 minutes means you have to zoom way out to see what still matters. It's actually refreshing (and humbling) to see small our individual experiences really are.
Food
Closed-on-Sunday Chicken Sandwich | Chick-fil-A
I haven't tried this recipe yet but I'll get to it. This is also the only link I've ever clicked in a CFA marketing email. I also don't know how I got on the list to receive CFA marketing emails.

Work / Productivity
Great Leaders Say “I Don’t Know”
I'm a terrible delegator (if that's a word). This is a short article that I have read often, reminding me to acknowledge my limits and not try to have answers to everything (at work and at home).
Sports (Disc Golf)
Robert Swift: From NBA lottery pick to drug addict to...
This is a tough read. The writing is excellent, and the story is really unbelievable. I felt like I was watching a movie. If you can make it through the SI website's insanely annoying ads, you'll be glad you read this one.
I love technology (and science)
New dinosaur fossil so well-preserved it looks like a statue
It's hard to describe how happy this news made me. It's a dragon, basically. IT'S A DRAGON.

Coach Wooden and Me: Our 50-Year Friendship On and Off the Court by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
I heard Kareem talking about this book on the radio this week. I'm looking forward to reading this one, so if anyone is interested in reading it with me hit me up. Just from hearing Abdul-Jabbar talk about Wooden on the radio, I think it's safe to say they don't make coaches like that anymore.
